HVAC-Intro Level I & IIStudents completing the courses of study in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Program will develop competency and basic work skills pertaining to the heating and cooling, modern refrigeration, air conditioning and plumbing industry, acquire knowledge necessary for gainful employment and learn skills and develop work ethics that will be useful throughout their lives. Graduates from the HVAC program will be prepared to seek career opportunities in a variety of diverse industries, such as operating engineers, sheet metal assistants, repair specialists, maintenance technician, installers, testers and application engineers. Once you completed 320 hours, it is mandatory to do 80 hours of Externship within the field of HVAC. Low-Voltage/Fire AlarmsThis course provides Students with the understanding of installation procedures and National Electrical Code requirements for coax, telephone, fire alarms, security, fiber optics, Cat 4, Cat 5 and other low voltage wiring systems. Fire AlarmsThis course will provide the students with the knowledge to install and troubleshoot various types of Fire Alarm Systems. Students will also gain knowledge on Signaling, Protection and Communications. Electronic System TechnicianElectronic Systems Technician (EST) Level I & Level II will train students to work in various environments. In this course students will learn pathways and spaces, fasteners and anchors, integrated circuits, power quality and grounding, electrical blueprints, switching devices and timers, wire and cables terminations, cable selection and much more. Emphasis is given to hands on training in our "smart house". A life size real world training structure built within our facility. Intro to Construction TradesThis 150 hour introduction course will focus on the fundamentals you need for an entry level position in the construction trade or if you want to gain a better understanding of construction industry. Today's construction industry you should be able to perform blueprint reading, math, communication, teamwork and much more. General ConstructionThe General Construction Program at HEI is designed to prepare students to enter the General Construction industry with marketable skills. Students in the B.M. program learn to provide basic construction repairs. Curriculum areas include safety practices, the use of hand and power tools, shop and construction materials, construction plans and blueprint reading. It will also instruct students on building codes, related technical mathematics as well as basic phases of residential construction and repairs. This includes construction practices such as site preparation, floor, wall, ceiling, roof frames, wall sheathing, and interior wall finishing. Graduates of the General Construction are qualified for career choices in the construction trade. Some graduates choose to continue their education by pursuing a two or four year degree in construction or civil engineering. Electricians AssistantHEI prepares the student to enter the industry as an Electrical Apprentice and Electricians Helper in a variety of industrial settings. Students in the E.A. program are taught Industrial, commercial and residential wiring, motor control and theory consistent with the National Electrical Code. Electrical safety including proper use of tools and equipment are stressed during the course. All safety classes are preformed to standard according to OSHA's rules and regulations. Instruction ranges from electrical theory to installation and repair of power apparatus, relays, motor controls, transformers, conductors, circuits, generators and various types of switching devices. Students will be able to interpret the National Electrical Code, apply Ohms law, read schematics and blueprints understand environmental factors, use various measuring devices and develop skills to design and lay out wire lighting circuits for residential and commercial projects. Related technical mathematics is also an important element in the curriculum. Electricians Assistant receive "hands on" experience by participating in electrical projects. Advance Electricians AssistantThis course is a continuation of our Electricians Assistant course. The course will enable the student to be knowledgeable in the electrical aspect of industrial and commercial construction in order to find employment. Students will be trained to work with the different types of raceways and all pertaining fittings. All students will be taught the OSHA and BOCA regulations "these regulations will be strictly emphasized and enforced". Students will also be familiar with the wiring of a single phase and 3 phase systems, Low Voltage systems, H.V.A.C. controls, Low Voltage Lighting Control. Upon the completion of this course the student will have a more in depth and advanced knowledge of the Electrical Industry. The New Jersey State Dept. of Consumer Affairs Division of Electrical Contractors requires all students to work a total of five (5) years prior to qualifying for the New Jersey Master Electricians Licensing Test. Complete Electrical CourseThis course is a combination of the two Electrical courses we offer. You will start off from the beginning with the Electrical Assistant Course (see page 8 for course details), moving up to the Advanced Electricians Course (see page 9 for course details), and cable networking technicians. Plumbers AssistantThe Plumbing Assistant course at HEI, provides students with basic plumbing theory and practical experience in the application and principles of plumbing, draining, and safety standard regulations. Workmanship and safety will be strongly emphasized throughout each section of the P.A. course. This course will enable the student to be knowledgeable in the construction aspect of residential and commercial plumbing in order to find employment as an assistant to a master plumber. The students will learn to work with the different types of tubing, such as: P.V.C/A.B.S., copper, cast, ect. And all pertaining fittings. Students will be acquainted with OSHA and BOCA safety regulations. They will gain the knowledge of tools, equipment, fittings and water heating equipment. Upon completion of this course, the title of the student will be that of Plumber's helper or assistant. To be able to take the New Jersey Master Plumbing Licensing test the student will be required to work five (5) years under the supervision of a master or journeyman plumber as required by the New Jersey State Dept. of Consumer Affairs Division of Plumbing Contractors. Plumbers Assistant/General ConstructionThis course is a combination of the 2 course's we offer, Plumber's Assistant and General Construction. The first part of the course will concentrate on Plumbing. The course will provide the students with basic plumbing theory and practical experience in the application and principles of plumbing, draining, and safety standard regulations. The second part of this course will be the General Construction. This is course is designed to prepare students to enter the building trades industry with marketable skills.
